Under Construction

I truly believe that we are all a work in progress and should probably walk around with an “under construction” sign on our foreheads informing the rest of the world of this. Spiritualists believe that we are all here on earth to learn lessons that are supposed to help our souls evolve and help us become more like our creator.

I believe that life is nothing but a school and that we all have something to teach and most importantly learn from each other. Learning is part of living and will never cease, life is vast and offers a great deal of lessons; no matter how much you think you know and how much time lapses, there will always be something for you to learn and understand on a deeper level. Learning never ceases. Once you have mastered a lesson and passed the test, life will present you with a new lesson to learn.

We learn life’s most valuable lessons through the various trials, obstacles and challenges we experience and overcome in life. Trouble is nature’s way of teaching us lessons we otherwise wouldn’t have learned on our own as are the mistakes we make or witness others make. Observing the consequences that result from our mistakes and misguided decisions allows an opportunity to evaluate our past choices, avoid repeating them and make more informed decisions, moving forward.

We sometimes learn things the hard way when we fail to cooperate with the universe and embrace the lesson it is trying to teach us. Sometimes life forces our hand and leaves us with no choice but to do things differently when we choose to stubbornly hold onto habits if would prefer us to let go of or knowingly keep making the same ignorant choices and mistakes over and over. If you keep finding yourself in the same miserable predicaments time and time again, chances are, you haven’t learned the lesson or passed the test.

We all have issues, struggles and challenges to overcome. It is sometimes very easy to judge others when we don’t struggle with the same challenges they do. While observing their weaknesses, we sometimes become blind to our own and become unfair in our assessment of them against our own strengths without realizing that we aren’t perfect ourselves and are weak in certain areas as well.

Although we will never be able to attain perfection, we owe it to ourselves to try to be the best we can be in the areas we can manage to or at least have control over. We shouldn’t beat ourselves up when we fail to excel in all areas as we weren’t born to. Some things might be easier for you to do while others might present challenges. Be satisfied in doing what you can and doing it to the best of your ability always bearing in mind that you will only get as far as you allow yourself to go.

With each new day comes the opportunity to do things anew or differently. Don’t allow yourself to get stuck in the past, only take a look back at your life if it allows you the opportunity to determine how to move forward or offers a measuring stick by which to determine your current progress. Always remember that the past doesn’t predict your future and that you have the power to create it using the knowledge you have learned along the way.

Life is progressive and ever evolving as are we, as both individuals and the human race; we grow with it and have to take it upon ourselves to be responsible for our own growth. We should never allow ourselves to be content and satisfied with things as they are if we know we are capable of making greater strides and an opportunity/room for growth exists.

Yes, we learn from others, our own experiences and yet we are never really filled up. We can not say, we have learnt enough, there is always room to learn more as there are avenues to learn from. Life is a lesson, we got to be fully present to learn!! Thanks for that reminder Yvonne.
