Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!!!

Every day, life requires us to make decisions; whether mundane or profound, the decisions we make have the potential to influence our lives and those of others. All decisions, whether right or “wrong” have consequences. Some decisions carry more weight than others because of their ability to change or set the entire course of our lives.

When faced with a decision there are usually two options to really choose from, when this is the case; we are said to have arrived at a fork on the road and must choose whether to go “right” or “left”. Discernment is very integral as far as decision making is concerned. We have to carefully weigh all options, determine the consequences of our choice and make the decision with as much certainty as possible.

The way I view it is, there really are no wrong decisions as all decisions contribute to our growth and development. The consequences we reap from making misguided decisions offer us learning experiences in that they allow us to re-examine our choices and make better and more informed decisions the next time around. We are responsible for the decisions we make and should therefore be able to deal with whatever consequences result from them.

“Wrong” decisions don’t make us bad or incompetent people neither should we judge others based on the decisions they choose to make. We make misguided decisions when we choose to go against what we know and believe to be right. Factors that might influence our decisions and distort our better judgment include; fear, shortsightedness, peer pressure, impaired judgment, emotions, nonchalant attitudes, low self-esteem, ignorance or self-entitlement.

We also make misguided decisions when we feel threatened, are attached to our comfort zones or prefer to take the easy way out. When this is the case, our decisions have the potential of getting us into serious trouble, hurting or causing our loved ones pain and in some cases, jeopardizing our lives. Some decisions don’t offer us the opportunity to recover our losses or the opportunity to back track and do things differently or anew

What decision do you find yourself struggling with today? What decisions have you made in the past that have had significant impact on your life, whether for the best or worst? I personally struggle with making decisions and can be wishy washy at times. I always want to be certain that I am making the best decision; unfortunately, life doesn’t always present the information we need to make informed decisions, sometimes we have to trust our gut to guide us and other times, we have to wise seek counsel. Whatever the case, decisions aren’t always easy to make.

So true. From whence does our discernment come from and which source should we use at what time? See, struggling with a decision right now. Great article. Capturing! Evocative! Poignant. Keep them coming. xoxo

Hi Phyllis, thanks for your support. What is your gut telling you regarding this decision u are faced with? Does the side you might be leaning more towards offer you peace? If someone asked you to advice them regarding a similar situation, what advice would you offer them? Please read “the answers are within you” post. It might offer you some guidance and help you as you determine what to do in this instance. Above all, pray and ask God to offer you some clarity. Thanks

This article has caused my mind to go all over the place. I have time after time found myself struggling with making decisions. However one thing am certain about is that I have always found that I am at peace whenever I make a decision without a big struggle and better still when I feel I can easily defend my decision whatever responsibility it brings. Well said my dear. Keep them coming…..

When you can defend your decision with confidence and not feel any shame attached to it, then you know you have made a good decision.

Hi Rinya. Thanks for your continued support and insight. You are so right, we need to take time to reflect and weigh options carefully before making decisions, especially those that carry a lot of weight with them.
